Report card
A report card summarises a pupil's results by subject for a given period, usually a term, together with teacher comments.
It is given to families at the end of each term and signed to confirm receipt.
Term average
A term average is the result calculated from all the marks a pupil obtained in a subject, or across all subjects, over a term.
It underpins the class council's assessment and the decision to move a pupil up a grade.
Class logbook
A class logbook records, subject by subject, the lessons covered in class and the homework set for pupils, day after day.
It lets families follow the academic progress and check the work that has been assigned.
Class council
A class council brings together a class's teachers, the school leadership and sometimes parent representatives to review pupils' results at the end of a term.
Its discussions lead to the comments written on the report card and to promotion decisions.
